Judges Jimmy Antiporda, Pat Castillo and Mon ‘Doktor Musiko’ del Rosario have chosen the composition of May Alona Trogue , the first finalist of A Song of Praise (ASOP) Music Festival Year 6.
They liked the modern sound of the song “Gabundok Man” which suited the style of its interpreter, Myrus.
“Gagamitin ko pa po ‘yung binigay na talent ni Lord para po kung 20 ‘yung last time po, Season 5, nanalo po ‘yung bata, pagka 2017 ako po sana,” Trogue said.
(I will use the given talent of the Lord to hopefully win in 2017. Last time, the winner in Season 5 is 20 (years old).)
“It happened to me two years ago noong kay Kuya Jinnie naman ‘yung entry. Tapos siya ‘yung first na grand finalist. And 2016, this is for 2017 na? Tapos first na grand finalist. So, nakakatuwa lang po,” interpreter Myrus said.
(It happened to me two years ago when it was Jinnie’s entry. Then, he was the first grand finalist. And 2016, this is for 2017 already? First grand finalist. So, it’s just overwhelming.)
‘Gabundok Man’ has beaten the entries “May Pag-asa Pa, Kaibigan” written by Jezreel de Oca and interpreted by Mavi Lozano, and “Lapis at Papel” by John Hipol and interpreted by Charlie Fry. — Ninya Armillo | UNTV News & Rescue
