Amateur songwriter celebrates first ASOP win

Posted on: September 4th, 2017

Nailing the first weekly title for the month of September, aspiring composer Marvin Cortez celebrated his first songwriting success with A Song of Praise (ASOP) Music Festival.

His composition “Dios Ang Bahala” performed by 26th Awit Award for Best Performance by a New Male Artist winner Daniel Grospe, trumped two other songs namely Jamarie Baluzo’s “Sama Sama” performed by Tawag ng Tanghalan’s former contender Nina  Espinosa; and Romina Riosa’s “God Is Here” interpreted by B.O.U. band vocalist Natasha Cunanan.

The song, highlighting faith in God as a way out of our problems, rendered a pop rock melodic pattern and sincere lyrics. Interpreter Daniel, a band member of the pop band “The Juans” performed the song keeping it cool with a smooth rendition.

The 26-year-old songwriter from Baliwag, Bulacan is a finance staff and a basketball enthusiast. Despite his busy schedules, he said he always makes time for music. He said this was because making music is his life-long passion.

With the Song of the Week title, Marvin hopes that there will be more success for his composition.
