This month’s third weekly winner, Jally James Enriquez, comes from music pedigree, being the son of season 1 grand finalist Jamie Enriquez who was also ASOP’s first People’s Choice awardee.
Jally’s own entry “Awit Kong Dasal,” did not disappoint. His musical prayer of thanksgiving was an instant hit with the judges; from its contemporary melody to the clear song sections. Judge Mon del Rosario noted his penchant for rhymes and even suggested a promising career in rap music.
The seamless combination of music and lyrics allowed interpreter Danica Reynes to deliver a mesmerizing performance that can only come from fully empathizing with the message of the song.
Judge Jet Montelibano even remarked, “When a singer easily sings a song without ‘ere’ (dramatics); so flawless…you feel the perfection.”

Milain Nabia is another composer whose musical ability runs in the family. Two of his brothers, Meldin and Marlon Nabia, were finalists in past seasons.

Her song “The Life I Found,” uses repeating melodic templates and shifting keys. This approach creates recall that is commercially appealing. However, the tension created in the buildup to the chorus is not resolved which leaves the listener hanging.
