Empol considers himself as a non-pro when it comes to songwriting. It is his first time to be in such a big event, reaching the grand finals of ASOP. Mixed emotions are what he feels, he confessed. He is thankful that though he has not much knowledge in the technical side of music, he was able to craft such a praise song commended and liked by both the judges and the audience.
Empol has joined ASOP twice and plans to continue to write songs of praises.
Bimbo or Bo has been serenading the Filipino audience for more than two decades. Bo’s is the voice behind the hit “’Pag Tumatag Lalong Tumitibay.” He does not only record songs but also acts in several musicales such as “Flower Drum Song”, “West Side Story”, “Rama Hari” and the Manila run of “Miss Saigon.” In 2011, he was Aliw Awards’ Best Male Performer in Hotels, Bars and Music Lounges.
“Cerrudo: Classico” is the longest running concert series of its kind which has had more than 100 shows since its start.
Normally, Empol would write a song with a guitar in hands. But for this particular masterpiece, he did not use any. Instead, he wrote the lyrics and made up the melody imagining how it would sound. As it turned out, it is quite a masterpiece indeed.
It was really unexpected that his song would make it to the grand finals, the composer confesses. He also considers himself an amateur.
“It feels good to write a song of praise,” says the avid ASOP viewer and composer.
Through his song, he wants to convey that even though we are weakened by struggles and difficulties in life, GOD is there to strengthen us. And that GOD is able to give even if we do not ask HIM to.
