Travelling all the way from Benguet, lyrical genius Christian Malinias wowed the judges once again with his ballad “Kung Pag-Ibig Mo’y Ulan,” and successfully bagged the weekly round this time.
Last night was a special Producer’s Pick episode which gave previous entries that didn’t make it, but were strong contenders, a second chance. Guest judges for the night were multi-talented siblings Jackie Lou Blanco and Monching Gutierrez.
“Kung Pag-ibig Mo’y Ulan,” was written during the typhoon season indeed and uses the imagery of torrential rain as a metaphor for God’s overflowing generosity.
In keeping with this song’s epic grandness of golden lyrics and dramatic melody, it was performed by no less than Apolinario Mabini’s grandchild and certified belter Jenimay Mabini.
Other hand-picked entries that returned for a second try were “Dakila Ka amang Banal” by Bryan Olano and “Buhay Ko’y Sa Iyo Ama” by Keith Princess Jover.
